The Creative connector
role - not compulsory for this group of
4
If you have time - do both the Charcter tracer and the Creative
connector!
Discussion leader:
Prepare four to six questions,
one for each of The Six Thinking Hats
if possible, but more important that you try to come up with good questions to discuss. Always set
the scene (summarize and say page number) before you write your question. At
the group meeting, you will lead the discussion. Always address students by
name and thank them when they have presented their activity. Start by always
asking the summarizer to summarize today’s reading. Next it is your turn to ask
your four - six questions to the group.
Don’t forget to put your questions on your blog!
Summarizer:
Prepare a short summary of today’s
reading, about 150-200 words. Your group discussion will start with your summary
that covers the key events and highlights of today’s reading assignment.
Don’t forget to put your summary on your blog!
Wordfinder:
As a wordfinder you should look for
difficult words in the text and translate them into Swedish, and with these
words you make a wordlist. You need to find at least 20 words. With the use of
10 of those words you should write down your own sentences where you put them
in, in order to make them more understandable. You can not take the sentences
in the book, you must create new ones. Finally you should create some kind of
wordgame (kahoot, crossword etc) where you use the words you have found in the
book.
Don’t forget to put your wordlist & sentences on your blog!
Character tracer:
Choose a character and list some
character traits that the person has shown in today’s reading. Give the page
numbers and evidence from your reading which will support your choices.
Creative connector:
Find connections between the text and
the world outside. Connect the reading to your own life, things you have seen,
heard or experienced. Set the scene in the book you are referring to by
summarizing it briefly. Then tell the others what this reminds you of. Finally,
point out similarities and differences.
The Six Hats:
The White Hat calls
for information known or needed. ”The facts, just the facts.”
The Yellow Hat symbolizes
brightness and optimism. Under this hat you explore
the positives and probe(=undersöka
grundligt) for value and benefit(=fördel).
The Black Hat is judgement –
the devil’s advocate or why something may not work. Spot the difficulties
and dangers; where things might go wrong. Probably the most powerful and
useful of the Hats but a problem if overused.
The Red
Hat signifies feelings, hunches(=föraningar)
and intuition. When using this hat you can express emotions and
feelings and share fears, likes, dislikes, loves, and hates.
The Green Hat focuses
on creativity; the possibilities, alternatives, and new ideas.
It’s an opportunity to express new concepts(=begrepp)
and new perceptions(=iakttagelseförmågor).
The Blue Hat is used to manage the thinking
process. It’s the control mechanism that ensures(=säkerställer)
the Six Thinking Hats® guidelines(=riktlinjer)
are observed.
