English 02 ABC week 18-23

A Journey in an English Speaking Country

You are going to make an oral report about an English speaking country, such as:

Great Britain
Ireland
Australia
New Zealand
Canada
USA/Alaska
India
South Africa

First a short presentation of your country:
You introduce the country by giving useful and interesting information about it, for example:

Flag
A description of where in our world we can find the country. A map on the screen where you show us the location of places would be nice
Capital
Population
Nature/Climate
Big Cities
Mountains
Lakes
What the country is known for (production, famous people, sports, artists, history, inventions and so on)

Then tell us about your journey!

  • Make some reflections on the differences and similarities between Sweden and the country you are telling us about.

Describe a dream journey you would like to do or pretend that you have been on a trip in the English speaking country that you have chosen.

  • Your trip will last for at least one week, but maybe longer. You have to visit five different places.
  • Your task is to plan your journey and tell us everything about it.

You can include:
• How you got to the place. (By plane, boat, train etc.?)

  • What places you visited during your trip. For how long did you stay? Interesting facts about the places you visited! Interesting people you met!

• What did you do during your trip? Museums? Sightseeing? Concerts?  Theatres? Sports Events? Shopping? Markets? Seeing friends?

• Who did you travel with? A friend? Alone? Family? Boyfriend/girlfriend?

• How did you feel during your trip? What was the best/worst thing that
  happened to you? Why?

To make this as real as possible you need different kinds of
information. To find this information you can use the Internet, reference
books in the library and what you have learnt from other classes.

Your oral report can be maximum 10 minutes.

During your oral presentation you can use a keynote/google presentation, music, digital pictures or something else to make your presentation as interesting as possible.

Have a nice trip!

Carolin, Anna & Ingela

Time: Weeks 18, 19, 20 & 21 preparing your presentation
Presentations: Week 22 & 23

* Dela in din text i flera stycken.
* Tänk på stor bokstav där det ska vara det, samt tänk på att sätta ut kommatecken, utropstecken, frågetecken, punkt.
* Använd bindeord (som exempelvis and, so, therefore, but, because, then, however) så att texten blir sammanhängande.
* Använd passande adverb, t ex probably, originally, ideally, och tidsuttryck såsom exempelvis ... years ago, since I was ... years old, my entire life.
* Uttryck dina egna åsikter där det passar i texten, gör jämförelser och motivera dem.

LYCKA TILL!
Anna, Ingela och Carolin

Engelska 9B: Omprov word test

OMPROV FREEDOM WRITERS DIARY:

tisdag 23 januari 2018

English 9ABC: Word test on Friday week 5 (2/2)

The words for the word test are in Google Classroom. Please note that all the classes have different words.

1. LEARN the words so that you can TRANSLATE them from English to Swedish AND from Swedish to English.

2. Look through the sentences so that you recognize them and can figure out which word fits into which sentence. There will be GAP TEXTS (lucktexter) in the test.

3. When you know what all the words mean, you will work individually or with a friend and try to EXPLAIN the words with a synonym or with a sentence in English for each word (you don't have to write this down if you don't want to). In the test you will get some words where you get definitions and you write which word it is, and also some words that you are supposed to explain in English.

GOOD LUCK!

English 02 ABC - weeks 2-6

Freedom Writers Diary - A Project During 5 Weeks

1.   Everybody will read Entry 1 + all the ten Diaries. After that, we the teachers will divide you into pairs and you will focus on one Diary together with your partner(s).  Make sure you understand all the words and that you can pronounce them correctly. Use ne.se as your dictionary and tyda.se to listen to the pronunciation. (Week 2)

2.   Together choose 5 words that you think are good to know from your chapter, (not too easy words!). Make a list where you copy the whole sentence from the diary for each word. Translate the whole sentence into Swedish. Underline the chosen word both in English and in Swedish. Fill in the wordwork in Classroom. (Week 2)

These words (40-50 words) will be a part of your final written assignment.

3.   What is your chapter about? Prepare to tell the others about it in front of the whole class. (Week 3)

4.   Who are these people? Find some info about Anne Frank - Anne Frank’s Diary, Zlata - Zlata Filipovic’s Diary & Rosa Parks. The teachers will divide the class in three groups. You will get 15-20 minutes to google and find out what makes these people special. Tell the class what you have found. After the research – what do they have in common? (Week 3)

5.   Watch the film (2h) (Week 4)

6.   Discussions + word test. (Week 5)

7.   Written assignment. (Week 6)
