Oral National Tests in English: Some Advice and Tips
Each group will get 5 minutes for preparations and then the actual test lasts for 15 minutes
- make sure to read the instructions carefully before starting
- help each other out in finding the right words and getting on in the discussion
- make sure you both talk AND listen to your friend
- interact with your friend: ask follow up questions, give comments on what your friend says
- say if you agree or disagree and motivate WHY
- give examples: everything you say doesn’t have to be true, it’s ok to make up examples that haven’t really happened
- try to use the argumentation expressions that we have practiced, for example ”In my opinion”/”the way I see it”/”It’s quite possible”
- try to connect the question with a wider perspective/with someone else’s perspective (for example people younger or older than you)/with life in the different parts of the English speaking worldall
